Tbox GPS Not Working? Here’s What’s Really Causing It (And How to Fix It)

If your Tbox shows no satellite signal, slow GPS positioning, inaccurate navigation, or Waze keeps crashing — don’t panic. In most cases, it’s not a hardware issue. It’s a configuration or placement detail that can be fixed in minutes.

Below is a practical troubleshooting guide based on real-world cases we’ve seen from users.

GPS Not Working or Taking Too Long to Lock?

If your Tbox GPS shows 0 satellites or takes several minutes to locate your position, here are the most common causes:

1. Device Placement Matters More Than You Think

The GPS antenna sits under the top cover. Make sure the logo side is facing up and the device is placed near the windshield. If it's buried under the dashboard or blocked by metal structures, signal strength drops dramatically.

2. Disable “Use Original GPS Data”

Some vehicles (especially certain Mercedes models) may conflict with this setting.

Settings → Other Settings → Factory Settings (Password: 4545) → Other → Turn OFF “Use Original GPS Data”

3. Check Location Permissions

Ensure your navigation app (Google Maps, Waze, etc.) has “Always Allow” permission and “Use Exact Location” enabled.

4. Metal Window Tint Can Block GPS

Metallic window films weaken satellite signals. If you suspect interference, test in an open area without overhead obstruction.

How Accurate Is Tbox GPS?

Positioning accuracy depends on whether network-assisted GPS is available.

  • With SIM card inserted: Up to 4 meters accuracy (network-assisted positioning)
  • No SIM (GPS only): Around 10 meters accuracy
  • WiFi only: Similar to GPS-only accuracy

You can check real-time accuracy by opening a GPS Test app and looking at the “Accuracy” value in the top-right corner.

Why Does GPS Drop Under Bridges?

Bridges, viaducts, and tunnels physically block satellite signals. This is normal GPS behavior.

To speed up recovery:

Settings → More → Location Information → Location Information Service → Enable “Accelerated Positioning”

This helps the system reconnect faster once back in open sky.

Waze Crashing, Freezing, or Not Responding?

If Waze becomes unstable on your Tbox, try the following:

  • Clear Waze storage and cache
  • Reset system options
  • Switch launcher style to Style 1
  • Update to the latest firmware version

In most cases, updating the system resolves compatibility issues.

Final Thoughts

Tbox GPS problems are rarely hardware defects. They are usually related to placement, signal obstruction, system settings, or app configuration.

Before contacting support, please prepare:
  • GPS Test screenshot
  • Satellite count
  • Accuracy value
This helps diagnose the issue much faster.
