Does the Tbox Ultra series support all 5G frequency bands?

The Tbox Ultra series (equipped with the 6350 5G solution) does not support full-band 5G. It only supports designated 5G Sub-6 GHz bands for corresponding regions, and all supported 5G bands operate in SA (Standalone) mode only.

In areas without 5G coverage, it functions just like a mobile phone: it will display a 4G signal and operate normally.

Supported bands by region:
- EAU (Europe, Australia and related regions): NR n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41
- JP (Japan): NR n1, n3, n8, n28
- NA (North America): NR n2, n5, n7, n12, n14, n25, n41, n66, n71

Any 5G bands not listed above are not supported. For example, n77, n78, n79 and n257 — bands commonly used by Japanese carriers — are not compatible with this product, so 5G connectivity cannot be used on networks running these bands.

Does it work with all other car models that have wireless CarPlay, besides BMW?

This product has received dedicated, in-depth optimization and adaptation for BMW vehicles, delivering the highest level of compatibility and user experience.

For vehicles from other brands such as Volkswagen, Porsche, BYD, Hyundai and Kia, actual compatibility may vary by specific model due to differences in head unit hardware and software configurations. If you encounter any compatibility issues during use, please contact our after-sales team for support.

When paired with a vehicle with wireless CarPlay, can the box connect to external Wi-Fi / a mobile hotspot for internet without a SIM card installed?

This product adopts a dual-WiFi design with two independent channels, which operate separately when working with a wireless CarPlay vehicle:

  • Internal Wi-Fi channel: Dedicated to maintaining the wireless connection with the car head unit, ensuring stable data transmission between the box and the vehicle system.
  • External Wi-Fi channel: Can be used either to connect to external Wi-Fi / hotspot for internet access, or to pair with a mobile phone for wireless CarPlay / Android Auto.

Please note that the external Wi-Fi channel cannot perform both functions at the same time. Only one mode can be selected:

  • If you use the external Wi-Fi to connect to an external hotspot or home Wi-Fi for internet, you cannot pair your phone via wireless CarPlay / Android Auto simultaneously.
  • If you use the external Wi-Fi to connect your phone for wireless CarPlay / Android Auto, you will not be able to access external hotspots for internet. A SIM card is required for mobile data in this scenario.
Is the Tbox Ultra 3 compatible with BMW vehicles?

The Tbox Ultra 3 features dedicated compatibility for BMW vehicles. Full adaptation details are as follows:

  1. Full-screen / Ultrawide Display Adaptation: It properly fits BMW's ultrawide displays with normal full-screen rendering, with no black bars, image stretching or distortion.
  2. iDrive Controller Compatibility: The factory iDrive knob supports menu navigation, scrolling and clicking within third-party apps with smooth interaction. This function is not available on all BMW models.
  3. Steering Wheel Button Mapping: Factory steering wheel controls work for track switching, volume adjustment and voice activation to operate apps inside the AI Box. This function is not available on all BMW models.
  4. HUD Head-Up Display: It does not support syncing turn-by-turn navigation arrows (from Amap / Google Maps in the box) to the vehicle's HUD system.
